Michele BonDurant | Viewed and Constructed
Exhibition runs: October 7 – 30
Opening: Friday, October 7th, 6-9 pm
Michele BonDurant will be presenting a one person show, Viewed and Constructed, that contains her paintings and collages. BonDurant’s work starts from using direct observation. The primary concern is the construction of spare and simplified space from landscape and architectural subjects. The paring down happens through the use of color, shape and light. BonDurant paints with oils on canvas, linen, paper and yupo.
Another step occurs in the studio. By creating collages, this further reduces some of the en plein air work. This allows BonDurant to experiment with the marks, color and form found through different application techniques. The collages are constructed with painted cut paper, artist tape and yupo, which creates a more varied surface.
BonDurant received a BFA from Wright State University lives in Oakwood and has a studio in her home. She has been in national juried shows at Prince Street Gallery and First Street Gallery in New York City. She was also short listed for the Royal Academy of London Summer Show 2016.
