March 2017. Midwest Paint Group and Invited Guests: Self Portraits

The Midwest Paint Group is an artist’s collective whose members hail from five states. They have shown together throughout the United States in such venues as the Swope Museum of American Art in Terre Haute, IN; The Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries at Wright State University in Dayton, OH, and the Westbeth Gallery in New York City. The members have a common background in representational and perceptual painting, but are not bound by those modes. Their exhibitions, often free-form in orientation, are, on occasion, united by a theme. In the case of the current exhibition at the Dutoit Gallery, that theme is the age-old one of the Self-Portrait.
